A few setbacks and a thank you.

For the past several days I've been itching to get started on new paint projects. But truth be told I've had a few setbacks this week. Last Sunday night I fell down the stairs at my parents house and hit my tailbone and lower back pretty good. I'm okay, but just now realizing the soreness is not going to go away overnight. And THEN, early Tuesday morning I woke up with the stomach bug and was on the couch for two days - which was pretty miserable. But I am feeling much better and slowly my back is feeling much better. I promise I will have some good posts for you guys to read soon!

In addition to my setbacks, I also just wanted to thank everyone for all the sweet comments, and for just taking a look at my blog and being a follower. Its been a eye opener to think that people actually like what I do and what I have a passion for, and that a large amount of people share my passion. Its been great hearing your comments and thoughts on paint color, furniture detail, etc. So thank you all so much for just looking, commenting, and being a follower! It means so much!

Sincerely,

Kelsey ;)

Next Projects

So, my painting has kind of slowed down a little bit - with Christmas approaching I've been super busy out shopping and doing things around the house with decorations and such. So this will be a short post with pics of projects to come.

The chest was a craigslist find around the Asheville area and the old chair (which I love) is a beside-the-road find that I found from my hometown area (gotta love FREE stuff from the road) :)

You'll just have to wait and see how they turn out! Still deciding on a fabric for the seat of the chair...

Bird's egg blue.

So here is my reveal of one of the dressers that has been sitting in my storage building out back. And painting it this bird's egg blue was perfect. (Had it leftover from a room my mother painted) The pulls/knobs are original but just painted. I think I used Krylon spray paint in Ivory. I've been loving their spray paint recently (And I'm not really a fan of spray paint), but I love how its been looking on projects I've been doing lately. Krylon is the spray paint of choice now :)

DIY yarn wreaths

So lately I've been a little slack with posting. I have one dresser almost finished  (I am currently spraying the knobs right now) and an old farmhouse door my mom actually found for me for 8 bucks that I want to turn into a headboard for our guest room. I have tons to do, but its been a little difficult with thanksgiving, Xmas shopping needing to be done AND chasing an almost 18 month old around the house :) So...with that said, I wanted to post something I'm pretty smitten with right now. And with it being December 1st today, this just fits.

Yarn Wreaths. I've made about 4 in the past 2-3 weeks and they are pretty addicting. These things are so much fun and SUPER easy. I think total cost was around 6 bucks. So Simple.

{This one is is hanging on my front door}

{These I adore as well}

Duncan Phyfe chair

So this ONE chair was just calling my name. I found this chair also in my parent's basement and just knew she had TONS of potential with just a little paint + new fabric. You can tell from the picture this chair was NASTY, and the seating even worse! I think I paid $1.50 for the fabric (at the habitat store) and used Krylon spray paint in Ivory.

I really wish I had about 5 more of the these chairs! For now, we will just use her for a desk chair or for extra living room seating :)

Good find

I did finish a few re-do's this past week but thought I'd share these antique pepsi and coca-cola crates that my husband and I found at the Raleigh flea market on Sunday. These were $4 each. A total bargain for these antiques. And I must say they are so fun to decorate with :) Good find.

Poor little shelf.

This poor antique cabinet/shelf was just too cute to pass up when I saw it at the habitat store this past summer. It came with two little doors attached to it (that were about to fall off) that I thought I would fix. All it needed was a screw, but once I started taking the doors off to fix I decided they could stay off. I liked the openness of it anyway - to display items and such ;) It also had part of the leg missing so I did have to build it back (I just used some wood filler and molded it to the way the other three legs looked). She turned out cute after all :)

Blog Re-do

Just letting my blog readers know that I am currently updating my blog (thus the frequent change in background, template, etc). Although I will still be posting some things I've been working, I just wanted to give my readers a heads up. Hopefully it will look just fabulous when I'm done. This whole blog world is somewhat new to me, so if any of you have any tips, advice, or cool websites that would help it would be greatly appreciated.

Chevron Chairs

Just thought I would share these. And I really wish I had taken a before photo of them. I found them in my father's shop when he cleaned it out. They were in okay shape, but had so much dust, dirt, and who knows what else on them. Just had them recovered and I LOVE THEM! So my style, and I'm crazy about the chevron print as well :)

Small projects.

Here are the before and after pics of two small pieces I decided to take on for the past two days. I needed a end table beside our couch and found one for $2.00 at a consignment store. Who could beat that!! Right?! And the coffee table was just something I needed to re-do. I was very motivated to finish both of these.

Two-tone French Provincial.

I finished this one a while back and am just now getting around to posting it. I love the 2 tone look and will be doing more in the future. Sorry for the bad picture. I was anxious to get sanding on this thing and forgot to take a before pic. Also, I will be keeping this one :)
